Deine Rolle

Als Lead Developer bist Du der operative technische Anker im Produktteam. Du entwickelst aktiv Software, setzt Standards und bist zentrale technische Ansprechperson im gesamten Produktentwicklungszyklus – von Discovery bis Delivery. Dein Entwicklungs-Fokus ist das Backend, Du behältst aber jederzeit das Gesamtsystem im Blick.

Du arbeitest eng zusammen mit:

Tech-Lead & C*O: strategische Außenrolle, architektonische Leitplanken
Product Owner und Projektmanagement: partnerschaftlich auf Augenhöhe, produktstrategisch
Dev-Team: operativ, strukturierend und befähigend

Du führst kooperativ: Du gibst Orientierung, triffst klare Entscheidungen und öffnest Räume für Entwicklung. Du bringst Architektur, technisches Tiefenverständnis, Verantwortungsbewusstsein und wirtschaftliches Denken zusammen – mit echtem Commitment zu Produkt, Menschen und Wirkung.

Was Du mitbringst

Mehrjährige Erfahrung in der Softwareentwicklung und idealerweise in der Führung von Dev-Teams.
Freude daran, selbst hands-on zu entwickeln.
Technische Tiefe über mehrere Technologien hinweg – Dein Code entsteht durch eigenes Verständnis, Sorgfalt und technische Exzellenz.
Klarheit in Kommunikation und Struktur.
Fähigkeit, Ambiguität und Spannung konstruktiv zu halten – mit Klarheit, Respekt und der Haltung Disagree & Commit.
Interesse an oder ggf. sogar Erfahrung mit E-Mobilität und Ladeinfrastruktur
Verantwortungsbewusstsein für Produkt, Menschen und wirtschaftlichen Impact.
Interesse an Produktentwicklung, Discovery-Phasen und gemeinsamer Ausrichtung.
Sehr gutes Englisch (Arbeitssprache), Deutsch mind. B2.

We are looking for you

We are looking for someone with in-depth technical and architectural expertise, a clear approach to collaboration and the confidence to develop software hands-on. You will make an impact through your own actions, provide guidance and empower a diverse team to work professionally and independently.

Who we are

At binary butterfly, our developer hearts beat for complex data applications related to (e-)mobility and payment. We promote environmentally friendly mobility, open data, and standards in a sustainable way – with start-up energy, a clear attitude and shared responsibility.

Our engineering approach

We develop with a high degree of technical diligence, clear quality standards and transparent decisions. This includes clean code structures, automated testing, a consistent review culture and transparent architecture decisions. Your role

As Lead Developer, you are the operational technical anchor in the product team. You actively develop software, set standards, and are the central technical contact person throughout the entire product development cycle – from discovery to delivery. Your development focus is on the backend, but you always keep an eye on the overall system.

You will work closely with:

Tech Lead & C*O: strategic external role, architectural guidelines
Product Owner and Project Management: partnership on equal terms, product strategy
Dev Team: operational, structuring and empowering

You lead cooperatively: you provide guidance, make clear decisions, and open up space for development. You bring together architecture, in-depth technical understanding, a sense of responsibility and economic thinking – with genuine commitment to the product, people and impact.

What you do

You actively develop software and implement technical decisions through your own actions.
You set standards, establish efficient working methods, and strengthen quality, stability and personal responsibility within the team.
You provide technical support to colleagues, give clear feedback, and promote development.
You shape professional, structured, and self-organised collaboration within the product team.
You are the technical contact person in refinements, reviews, and the delivery process.
You work in partnership with the PO and technical project management.
You relieve the Tech Lead of operational tasks and take responsibility for day-to-day technical issues.

What you bring to the table

Several years of experience in software development and, ideally, in leading dev teams.
Enjoyment of hands-on development.
Technical depth across multiple technologies – your code is the result of your own understanding, diligence, and technical excellence.
Clarity in communication and structure.
Ability to maintain ambiguity and tension constructively – with clarity, respect and a disagree & commit attitude.
An interest in, or perhaps even experience with, e-mobility and charging infrastructure
Sense of responsibility for the product, people, and economic impact.
Interest in product development, discovery phases, and joint alignment.
Very good English (working language), German at least B2.
Willingness to work in a hybrid environment (based in the Ruhr area or Berlin).
Willingness to travel within Germany (travel expenses will be covered).
